Dear Reader,
As I sit down to write this, my very first paper artistry blog, it occurs to me that I am much more at home in the world of handwritten letters, and still very much enjoy putting pen to paper to write letters to my family and friends; so forgive me, if you will, for making my blog space an extension of my circle of letter-writing. Welcome to that circle!
That being said, I will begin by introducing myself to anyone reading who doesn’t know me. I am Christina, the artist behind Cherise by Christina, and creator of realistic paper flowers and storytelling event stationery. My dream of creating paper artistry began on the island of Guernsey, where I started making wedding stationery for local couples tying the knot. The small island location enabled me to meet my couples in person and that personal connection led to stationery that suited not just a theme but the spirit of the couple and their wedding. I now work worldwide, but I treasure connections and even if we cannot meet face-to-face, it is important to me that we chat in person virtually to build that rapport and to allow me to add personality to the story in your designs or flowers.

The name, Cherise, came from the local Guernésiais language for cherry blossom, a flower I have always loved. With its symbolism as a herald of new beginnings, cherry blossom seemed so fitting for my small business and for the occasions and moments for which I am privileged to create.
The joy of receiving a handwritten note, card or flowers through the mail cannot be understated and is in part what has brought me here; preserving that joy of sending and receiving invitations or cards, and enabling anyone to enjoy nature’s beauty through paper flowers, no matter the time or distance.

I feel very grateful that through my artistic journey I have met some incredible suppliers, artists, designers and friends; thank you for the inspiration, the collaborations, the shared ideas (and cups of tea!), and for encouraging me to create this website and blog! Lastly, thank you to all of you reading this. My future blog letters will be filled with practical tips and suggestions, creative ideas from real-life commissions, and glimpses into my adventures in the world of art, flowers and nature.
Until next time, or à la perchoine as they say in Guernsey!
